OGP celebrates 80 years of metrology innovation

Optical Gaging Products (OGP), part of Quality Vision International (QVI), is celebrating 80 years of helping industries measure with precision and confidence. Since its formation in 1945, OGP has brought a series of innovations to the world of dimensional measurement, from the first electronic edge detection system in the 1950s to the SmartScope M-series, which uses the IntelliCentric-M optical system for top-notch accuracy.

Along the way, OGP has earned more than 90 patents, creating tools like the Projectron electro-optical image sensing system, the Vidicom Qualifier and the IQ-2000 multisensor system. In the 1990s, the company introduced fully automated 3D multisensor measurement with the SmartScope series – now an established name in quality control circles.

OGP systems help ensure quality in everything from smartphones and PCs to electric vehicles and even spaceflight components.

Looking forward, the company continues to combine optics, engineering, software and manufacturing to tackle measurement challenges.
