The Sempre Group celebrates 25-year partnership with Hommel-Etamic

Part of the Jenoptik Group, Hommel-Etamic has built a 150-year legacy in precision measurement, producing the Opticline, Waveline, Gageline and Visionline systems, supplied and supported by The Sempre Group across the UK and Ireland.

Over the past 25 years, Sempre has worked closely with Hommel-Etamic to deliver surface roughness, contour, form and optical shaft measurement solutions to UK manufacturers. The company supports customers at every stage, from system specification and installation to calibration, servicing and long-term technical assistance.

One such customer, Eurocams, has benefited from a Hommel-Etamic Opticline system for over 20 years.

“It’s been regularly serviced and calibrated by Sempre, which has kept it performing exactly as it should,” says John Watson, Technical Manager at Eurocams. “The build quality is solid and the accuracy has remained consistent over time. From an engineering point of view, it’s a dependable piece of equipment that continues to deliver precise, repeatable results. We’ve always received reliable, effective support from Sempre,”

Dr Simon Gunter, Divisional MD: Smart Manufacturing at The Sempre Group, reflects on the milestone: “We’ve always enjoyed the trust, bond and professional approach that Hommel-Etamic brings to providing our customers with leading technical solutions of quality and longevity. We cherish the partnership and look forward to many more years of collaboration. At our stand at MACH 2026 (NEC Birmingham, 20-24 April), we’ll join together to mark this significant milestone of 150 years.”

The durability of Hommel-Etamic systems, combined with the continued technical support from Sempre, reflects the strength of this long-standing partnership. For many customers, the mix of robust German engineering and responsive UK-based service has ensured measurement technology remains precise, current and dependable, which is a testament to both manufacturer and distributor.

This combined heritage will be on display at MACH 2026, where The Sempre Group will exhibit the Hommel-Etamic and Jenoptik Opticline range, along with the Waveline and Gageline systems, at its 100 sq m stand (19-439). Visitors will be able to explore the full measurement portfolio and discuss how these systems can be integrated into existing manufacturing processes.
