ZwickRoell donates €5,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support following global ‘Runs The World’ challenge

ZwickRoell has donated €5,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support after employees, customers and suppliers completed the company’s global ‘Runs The World’ challenge. The initiative encourages participants across the organisation and its wider network to stay active while raising funds for charitable causes nominated by those taking part in the challenge.
The annual challenge brings together participants from around the world to collectively walk, run or hike a combined 200,000 km within 60 days. Upon achieving this milestone, ZwickRoell donated a total of €100,000 to charities worldwide.
Macmillan Cancer Support was nominated by Dr Abi Batley, Programme Leader for Product Design at Bournemouth University, who selected the charity due to its personal significance to her and her family.
“I chose Macmillan as my nominated charity because it’s one that’s very close to my heart,” reveals Abi. “My family has personally experienced the care, guidance and reassurance Macmillan provides, and the support they offer goes far beyond medical care. The work they do makes an incredible difference to people and families during some of their most difficult moments. Supporting Macmillan feels like a meaningful way to give back to a charity that offered support to me and my family when we needed it most.”
The donation will help Macmillan continue providing essential support services to people living with cancer and their families. According to the charity’s impact report shared with ZwickRoell, a contribution of this scale could help fund critical services such as 109 paid hours for a Macmillan nurse or fund the support line, or keep Macmillan’s online community running for 158 hours.
“We’re proud to support causes that make a genuine difference to people’s lives,” states Brian Lever, UK Sales Manager at ZwickRoell. ” The Runs The World challenge is a fantastic way for people to come together, stay active and contribute to something bigger than ourselves. We’re delighted that our efforts can help Macmillan continue providing vital care, guidance and reassurance to people and families facing cancer.”
